Churchgoers usually take church bulletins for granted. This is the reason why more churches are trying to figure out other means of attracting the attention of their members, and come up with ways to inform them of any upcoming events or announcements within the church community.

If you find yourself heading a team or being an one man team in spreading church announcements and posting it on your bulletins, it is best to get acquainted with several ways that will help you catch the attention of your church members.

Before doing this though, there are several things that you need to keep in mind prior to actually working on your church bulletins.

First, ask yourself what you want to communicate to your members. Do you want to post exclusive church events only or would you be fine with posting other announcement provided it related to the teachings or the faith?

Having this figured out ahead of time will allow you to focus on the more important announcements and posts.

Two, figure out whether the postings that you'll make will communicate anything about your church or community. It is best to send out positive signals.

This is a must especially if you have a big denomination and your church bulletins are one of the few ways that you could reach the church's non-active members.

Third, another thing to consider is the theme of the service. Church bulletins are usually updated weekly; hence, it is necessary that you have information that is related to the sermon or service given by the priest or the pastor to help tie everything together.

Most churches use church bulletins as the foremost tool in communicating with their members. It can be a powerful tool that will help members as well as visitors to know about the church and its upcoming events and activities.

Some churches post important dates, times, and service opportunities in their church bulletins, while others use it to provide as a teaching tool used to outline sermons so members and visitors can have a guide.

No matter what specific purpose you might want for you church bulletins, one thing is for sure, it is necessary that your bulletin will help your church and provide support to it.

Here are three things you need to do and have in order to make your church bulletin a success.

Plan

Prior to working on your church bulletins, it is important that you have a plan and you know what it is for. Determine whether your bulletin is only going to provide information or whether you want it to become a discipleship tool as well.

Assign someone whom you can trust and you think will be reliable to follow through and maintain your bulletin.

Pattern

Provide a pattern for your bulletin. This will help your audience take it in easier. Of course, this would depend on the purpose of your board as well, so you need to take that into consideration.

Your bulletin can contain a statement of your church vision and mission, event information, letter from the senior pastor, visitor information card, church information or maybe even an outline of the sermon.

Packaging

Although it can be an unusual concept to integrate into your church bulletins, it is important that you are able to grab the attention of the reader by placing importance into the packaging. You can coordinate the colors as well as images that go into your board and maybe have consistent logos so that you provide visual interest for the readers.

Coming up with your own church bulletins should not be a tough job. Make it simple yet interesting, and you should be able to communicate the Word of the Lord as well as communicate with your members' about your church happenings.
